Lindsey, can you tell us your fitness history? How did you get into eating healthy, exercising, and helping others achieve a fit lifestyle?
Lindsey: First of all, I want all of our IdealFit readers to know: I am just like you! I’m a working mum with three young kids, and I wasn’t always in amazing shape. For years, I worked out at the gym without seeing the results I wished for, because my nutrition wasn’t in line with my fitness goals. I had a huge problem with “BLTs”–that’s Bites, Licks, and Tastes. I would snack on my kids’ breakfasts, finish their lunches, and lick the peanut butter off the knife when I was making sandwiches. Sound familiar?
Eventually, I learned that I could turn my nutrition around and get results without suffering through a hard-to-stick-to low-calorie diet. Since then, I’ve not only become a CISSN Nutritionist, I’ve also placed in the national top 15 in figure competitions in the US and helped countless clients transform their bodies with my tried and true workout and nutrition techniques.
Wow, you have come a long way with your nutrition! What’s your favourite protein supplement?
Lindsey: My favorite has to be IdealLean Protein Chocolate. It makes an amazing shake!
You’re at the gym almost every day. What are your gym bag must-haves?
Lindsey: I’ve got to have grips for my hands, my lifting belt for back support, IdealLean BCAAs to fuel my recovery, and my workout notebook. I’ve been tracking all of my weights, reps, and workouts this way for almost fifteen years! I love tracking my progress.
I also need my headphones and a current fitness magazine to keep me entertained during my cardio sessions.
What’s your favorite healthy meal lately?
Lindsey: At the moment I’m loving buffalo chicken tacos. I just cook lean chicken in the crock pot with buffalo sauce, and then serve with corn tortillas, coldslaw, and Greek yogurt. I usually add some ranch seasoning to the yogurt, and top everything with a little cheddar cheese!
I’ve also been making “freezer fudge” out of IdealLean Protein and peanut butter. It’s great.
That sounds amazing. What’s your favorite workout, something you never get bored with?
Lindsey: I love working on my shoulders! And I hate cardio, with a passion. But I do what I’ve gotta do and get it done without complaining!
It can be so hard to make yourself finish a workout! We’re all wondering what your morning routine is. How do you get everything together for your busy days?
Lindsey: I wake up at 5am and eat breakfast right away. I know it sounds really early, but you’d be surprised how quickly you get used to it, and trust me, it makes you more productive.
Then I get into my workout clothes (I lay them out the night before) and check Facebook and emails while my food digests. When that’s finished, I take a pre-workout supplement and head out the door!
I try to start my lifting workout about an hour after I eat. I lift six days a week and do cardio four days a week. When I get home, I get my kids up and ready for school, and then it’s time for me to head into work or start working from home!
